UK ultrarunner to attempt Fastest Known Time along Dorset coastline

Dan Williams, a UK ultrarunner from the Isle of Wight, is set to take on an endurance running challenge along the Dorset coastline next weekend. He will be running from Ware, Lyme Regis, following public footpaths, bridleways and trails all the way to Chewton Bunny, Highcliffe on Sea, including a loop around the Portland Coastal Path. The journey will cover 100 miles and over 17,500-foot of ascent.

Dan will be supported and crewed by White Star Running, which is due to start on 12th April 2019. Dan is also being supported by Freshwater Holiday Park, who are providing free accommodation to make sure he gets a good night’s sleep before his attempt. Dan is hoping to set an official Fastest Known Time (FKT) for the course. He already holds an official FKT for the 70-mile Isle of Wight Coast Path.

Andy Palmer, race director and owner of White Star Running, said: “White Star Running is very proud to support Dan Williams in his FKT attempt along the beautiful Dorset coastline. Dan has attended some of our events in the past, even winning the Bad Cow Frolic in September 2017, so we know he is more than capable of taking on this epic challenge.”
As well as raising awareness of the Dorset and Jurassic Coast area, Dan is also raising money for the Jurassic Coast Trust you can sponsor him here

Dan’s running journey hasn’t always been easy. In September 2014, he suffered two broken heel bones. It was uncertain whether he would be able to walk again properly, let alone run. After a long journey of rehabilitation, Dan returned to running with renewed motivation, taking it more seriously. The full story of Dan’s injury and subsequent running achievements can be viewed here: Run Deep, an online blogazine for runners, by runners, is working with Dan and White Star Running to provide updates on Dan’s challenge.
